In exclusive interview with Access Hollywood, Steven Tyler, admitted he is suffering from hepatitis C for couple of years now. I’m guessing he probably contracted the disease while being a drug addict.
"I've been pretty quiet about this. The band took a break about three years ago. … [My doctor] said now is the time, and its 11 months of chemotherapy" — actually, interferon, which strengthens the immune system — "so I went on that, and it about killed me. You know, it really hurt. It was a bad, bad period. I'm in AA, and I tried to go three, four, five months with nothing, and it about killed me. It's the silent killer," Tyler says. "I may go on Oprah and talk about this."
Poor Steven, hope he'll manage to get out of this, as far as I remember Pamela Anderson had it some time ago, maybe she has some words of wisdom for him.

[...] Steven Tyler has Hepatits C. Which is just slightly classier than Hepatitis B. (Gossip or truth) [...]
its not much of a shocker but im sure he’ll get out of it!
I have had hep c for 20 years i found out 5 years ago and started treatment back in march… yes the exact same treatment that Mr. Tyler has taken..
I would personally like to see some one speak up about Hep C who did not get it from drugs. I have never been a drug ueser nor have i drank.. but i was in an accident in 86 and had to have 11 pints of blood….
and I must say I am insulted that so many people know so littie about this virus that they think it can be transmitted from every thing, spit, snot, toilet seats,
unless someone comes up to you and cuts you and cuts thierself then ya’ll pay the blood brother grame you are not going to catch it… unless of coruse you deside to live a lifestyle that puts you in danger….. which is your choice… but i know it seems almost every person who speaks out against hep c and for awareness of it is someone who got it from drug use…… not all of us have used drugs….. and that needs to be known…….
I’m happy you replied Melissa, it’s good to spread the word around so people would know more about it.
Is the treatment successful? Are you feeling better now? Feel free to share your experience with us.
Hope you feel better,
Iva

I never used drugs, (did smoke pot socially during70’s), aside from a social drink occassionally, didn’t do that. 4 years ago Dr. said I have cerrosis of liver and HEP C. I was a good canidate for Interferon, however, declined. My neighbor, female 53 yrs. did go through 5 mos of Interferon. It was horrible. she couldn’t breath, had deep depression, req. medication, suddenly she had boils under her arm pits, loss of energy and could not work. The worse part, she never felt the same again. I think the younger you are the less side affects interferon has. Now, I would opt for the latest drug, the one that does not have. The cerrosis has not showed up in blood tests. I guess my liver rejunvinated itself. However The Hep C doesn’t hurt. If I could liver another 15 yrs. that enough for me! What bothers is, when going to some doctors for 1st time, they suddently stop smiling and don’t invite back!
Hey Steven,
Don’t know if you read this shit, but hang in there buddy. AA can’t hurt..Best wishes to you.
