beyonce ruins her career

Beyonce made some stupid comments about her record that apparently drop the sales of her new album for huge 70%.

“I make black records. I write records like I speak, and I don’t try to change my songs so everyone else likes them.”

Ouch!

There is nothing racist about her remark. She is black, and she says she mkaes black records. She’s trying to say that she doesn’t dilute the sound of her music, OR dilute the way that she speaks when she’s writing her songs, AND she’s not aiming to make records so that they have a POP feel.
She’s making music that feels authentic to her as a black woman. all she’s saying in plain english is that she making an authentic R&B record, (the fact is that traditionally R & B records have been regarded as BLACK RECORDS, sung by BLACK SINGERS.)

BLACK RECORDS IS A TERM COMMONLY USED IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY.
When Whitney Houston, and Mariah Carey were both starting out they were both encouraged by their labels not to make their music too Black, so that this way it would have more cross-over success.
Now that both these women have made it, they can and do make the records they want to make without fear that it will not appeal to one group or another.

JUSTIN AND CHRISTINA AGUILARA will quickly tell you that they are not writing or singing POP songs, but R&B. They know that there is a difference, and everyone else who is honest with themselves knows there is a difference. R&B records tend to sound like the records traditionally sung by black singers, both in the past and the present. Justin draws inspiration from Marvin Gaye, and Christina draws inspiration from Ella Fitzgerald.
Just like rock, and punk, sound like the records traditionally sung by white singers.
Just like reggea, and rap, sound like records traditionally sung by black singers.
These are just facts, there is nothing racist in stating the facts.

I think that someone who is creating art, should be able to express where they draw their inspiration from, honestly. THIS IS ALL BEYONCE IS DOING. I DON’T know why what she said would offend anyone, unless they’re are people out there who are NOT interested in buying a record because IT’S been called A “BLACK RECORD”. IF YOU LIKE THE MUSIC BUY IT! If you choose NOT to buy A RECORD BECAUSE it’s a “black record”, perhaps you are the one with some issues you need to work out.

It seems like people are looking for any reason to hate Beyonce, and are just trying to use her comment about where she draws her inspiration from in a negative way. Artist should have a right, just like poets, and writers, and painters to say were they draw their inspiration from.

I agree with the second comment,I don’t need to ad a word to it.Her statement is 100% true.

[...] Gossip or Truth:  Did Beyonce open up too much about the b’day album?  [...]

  5. None of your concern on September 27, 2006 10:38 pm

I agree with the first post. Everyone knows for a fact again, if a white person said that, their album would be protested and the black community leader would demand everyone boycott the music. Face it people, we live in a society where there is reverse discrimination and no one wants to admit it.

It is funny how certain races, religions etc. can say whatever they want and have no consequences. I for one will never buy another Beyonce’ album. Screw her and her self righteous attitude.

  6. sarah on September 28, 2006 11:25 am

“NONE OF YOUR CONCERN”, I am sure that you won’t be missed. Those who are intelligent know what she meant, and that there was nothing racist about it like the second poster stated quiet well.

  7. Paula on September 28, 2006 2:34 pm

How is what she said racist! Did she say something insulting, degarding or demeaning, about another ethnicity. Has she said anything insulting, degarding, or demeaning about her own ethnicity.

Perhaps if you don’t know the definition of racism, you shouldn’t be calling someone a racist. It’s irresponsible and downright wrong to be doing that to anyone without the proof to back it up.

  8. None of Your Concern on September 28, 2006 3:33 pm

‘Sarah’ get over yourself, keekp licking that celebrity hole, I am sure her millions are really helping your life out right? Yeah did not think so.

  9. Sarah on September 29, 2006 9:03 am

“none of your concern”—when you’re wrong, you’re wrong!. As well as having no comprehension of what racism means, you also obviously have no class. Listen to how you speak.
And, just as you believe that my defense of Beyonce is not helping my life out, you should also realize that your hating her isn’t helping your life either.

  10. None of Your Concern on September 29, 2006 7:28 pm

Ha ha ha, it is so funny to see you take things about a stupid celebrity so seriously. I am sorry, I forgot ’sara’ your name is Beyonce’ and that was a personal attack against you! One day you will get a life and stop defending celebrities who do absolutely nothing but take your money!

  11. SexyMama on October 3, 2006 5:43 pm

I don’t think that she was being racist at all. The girl was just being real. Why some people gotta take it so seriously. Just because she said that she makes “Black Music” is not the same as her saying that she makes “Black People Music”. People just need to leave that girl alone, cause she don’t bother nobody. She is just trying to live her dreams like everybody else. Keep going girl u doin’ yo thang. Don’t let them hatas out there make u fall down on yo stuff. YOU STILL #1

  12. fancy face on October 3, 2006 7:29 pm

i think they need to leave beyonce alone because she is young and in life you need to take challenge and i dont think she is racist i strongly agree with #2 they are all player hater so beyonce strive for the best and pray because virgo are strong and nobody take us off the top easily because we are blessed by god

  13. Terry on October 10, 2006 1:29 am

Guys, please, (this is an objective comment from a fan)
What she said was wrong. No matter what the context. I like Beyonce overall (I mean, to me she is just a singer, nothing spectacular), but saying, “I make black records…”. How many different things could that mean? She is saying that she is black and that she makes black music–music for black people and music that blacks can relate to. That’s all it could mean.

If Britney Spears said she made “white music”, what would you all say? Get off of B’s tits people! She made a stupid comment, even if she isn’t racist or meant it in a bad way. It doesn’t necessarily mean she is racist, it just means that when she writes a song, she is thinking about the stuff that her brothers and sisters go through and how we act and handle it, not white folk. I think it was a stupid statement nevertheless, just knowing that people would take it like she is racist. You do not make comments like that as a celebrity. Just like when J.Lo said “nigga” (I’m Real – Remix) in her song, they were all over her.

  14. Jamaicangurl on October 14, 2006 10:05 pm

I think that was a dumb move to make in a country like America where the majority of citizens and therefore consumers are white. It just goes to show that the scars of racism are still here and it is still an” us “versus “them” mentality. I know that if Jessica Simpson for example said something like ” I make white records and not going to try any of the hip hop or R&B sounds because that just not who I am” black people would be offended.

It is a matter of principle saying something that implies racial segregation is hurtful to blacks, whites and latinos everywhere. Like Beyonce we should all think about the other person feelings before we speak.

  15. darealist on October 28, 2006 12:15 pm

I disagree with you. I could see Jessica Simpson saying something exactly like that, “Like, I’m a white girl..I make white music, I’m not like a R & B singer like Beyonce, like, that’s just who I am”. And being a black woman, I wouldn’t give a damn. Because she would be telling the truth. She’s a white girl who makes white music. Likewise, Beyonce is a black girl who makes black music. Get over yourselves people. I guess yall never heard the song “play that funky music white boy”. Maybe back then, when it came out, people had a problem wit it, but today, don’t nobody care.

  16. darealist my ass on November 7, 2006 7:27 am

beyonce didnt say i am a black, am not pop like jessica simpson, thats just who i am…she just say i make black music…so what if he does isnt she blac anyways…obviously she makes black music because cause you dont see her singing pop or country…just like you dont see “jessica simpson” singing r&b…an dont compare beyonce to jessica…cause j.s. is just dumb…doubt if she knows the kind of music she sings…

  17. malysse on November 11, 2006 12:51 am

i personallly can care less i never bought a beyonce cd
anytime i got one it was given as a present i dont see no reaces in this situation she is a black independent woman who is trying to make a livin so for those who are on her back about a stupid comment needs a life cause i do not see beyonce caring about what comes out of our mouths let alone what goes in it eighter

  18. rj on November 14, 2006 3:48 am

It is what it is. It doesnt matter. Everybody says something stupid every now an then. People just need to get over it.

  19. Kacenka on November 17, 2006 8:26 pm

I am white, and her comments did neither put me off nor offend me. I don’t quite understand what the fuss is about…? The genre of music she’s making is black, and it’s a great black music, why is the comment racist, everybody is trying to be so PC nowdays even in the most ridiculous cases like this, it’s sad! Or did you forget that it’s supposed to be about music …?

  20. Fiame on November 27, 2006 9:04 pm

Im white and I like Beyonces music…even if she said that she makes black music it doesnt mean that she is making music just for black ppl to hear it and white ppl should get lost…..,ppl get over it ok if her sales drop its her problem it is not your money that gets lost ….

  21. Jazmine on November 29, 2006 2:16 am

There was nothing racist about Beyonce’s comment. She was just Speaking her mind. And whoever thinks her comment was racist needs to grow up. For real.

  22. Carrie on November 29, 2006 2:18 am

Beyonce was just being real. She could have said it differently, but it still would have meant the same thing.

  23. Dennis on December 3, 2006 5:00 am

You ignorant white people are in no position to parallel a statement like that, by saying “what if a white person said they make white records”. Idiots, there is a bit of a difference, it’s called CENTURIES OF SLAVERY that still have ripple-effects affecting society to this day.

You reap what you sow, and if what you sow is a society of blacks who have a bad taste in their mouth towards white people, and want to liberate themselves through acknowledging they openly make “black records”, then deal with it, or further cement your assanine ignorancy.

  24. Lisa on December 11, 2006 11:10 am

I write black music the way I speak and I wont change it for everyone to like them.HMMMMMMM,I am trying to find a racist comment in that statement. Those that like her music will buy it and those that dont will not.If you like black music,as she has stated that she writes, there shouldnt be a problem. Those that seem to think that she is a racist, please put your money in someone other than her.But tell me first,What are the Country Award classified as, What are the Hip Hop awards classified as,What does BET stand for? It is either music written by black people and song by them or mostly white music sont by white people and BET,black intertainment television. No matter what you think or how it comes out,all of the music industry is classified as black, white, latino or something else.So classifying herself as a black writer of music is nothing.I am a black woman and I dont like her music but I will not try to degrate her because of the words used in her statement to classify who she is and what she is not willing to do,which is to change herself for others.

  25. Jeremy on December 12, 2006 1:53 am

We may as well lay it all out on the table. For some reason some Caucasions are upset at blacks point blank if she wouldn’t have even said that comment. The comment just gave whites a reason to jump. What i mean when i say this is that whites were waiting for a reason rather big or small to get back at black people for just now recently being noticed as a beautiful, talented, equal race just like every other race. For all who have not noticed whites are recently angry because blacks speak there mind and say what they feel just as Kanye West did on the Katrina incident. Whites are upset because blacks get accepted in colleges because of there skin maybe in front of about 8-10 whites. Whites make it seem like we want your hand out we just want what we work for we are not behind offices making those decisions just to name a few there it go to lay it all out there.

  26. jazmin on December 12, 2006 4:31 am

no she did not ruin her career ima always be her biggest fan…stop tring to bring her down all ya’ll haterz are just makin her stronger…

  27. Jeremy on December 13, 2006 1:14 am

dont jump down her throat and call her raicist just because she said something that you may not agree with stop looking for a reason to cause controversy over, when its really no big deal. How can she be raicist when all the people in the corporate office behind music are white people. Maybe some of yall should look in the dictionary for the meaning of the word racism or go back and watch some Malcolm X, Emmit TIl, and Martin Luther King Jr videos. to understand or get a glimpse of what racism really is. If you havent done so, shut the fuck up cause Beyonce is far from Raicist towards whites and any other ethnicity.

  28. A on December 24, 2006 5:21 am

No matter how much you like her…the comment was wrong. She shouldn’t have said it and if a white person had said the same thing…we would be all over them. Accept that she was wrong. There are just, if not more, whites buying her music and going to her shows. Some blacks, like me, can’t afford the tickets so she needs to remember that her audience is multi-racial.

  36. CharieJ on March 12, 2007 4:36 am

This conversation is really annoying. You can’t tell an ignorant person anything. I like Beyonce’s music. She has been blessed with the ability to sing. But I do not like Beyonce as she is displayed (only because I don’t know her personally) because she comes across as arrogant/ Now Is it’s okay for Tommy Hilfiger to say he only designs for rich white people? People can be anyway they want everything always seems to boil down to race there are bigger and better things on this earth to be concerned with the few ignorant comments a person makes. Comments are made like this everyday by regular people – because these people are famous why should we expect any better

  37. Fashion on March 23, 2007 5:50 am

damn apparently Beyonce is all of that if yall are taking out of yall time to search for her and write somethin negative about her….to me, i think that is a good thing for her cuz she need haters and yall aint the first ones to do it…so do like TI said, “HATAS GET ON YA JOB.” feel me….if not email me at goodgirloftheyear_04@yahoo.com

beyonce is really conceited though i love her songs but the truth is she is conceited…even jayz said so himself in “lost one” when he said she loves her career more now shes doing a song with shakira but she cant dance like shakira but she certainly is trying….i use to like her alot now she jus annoys me…she thinks she is the queen of everthing and that song upgrade u is just showing off her big ass EGO….the more i see her the more i dislike her

  39. ryan on March 29, 2007 11:19 pm

i dont think she is being raciest cause she is black and she is standing up and if she was raciest then she would not have made the song with shakira. i love beyonce so PLEASE STOP HATING ON HER

  40. lexi on April 6, 2007 10:41 am

i think she is right people already like her music so there is no problem there she is pleasing her fans very well im sure she dont care what yall think she makin billions of dollars by doing what she does if u dont like it oh well haters

  41. angelinthemist on April 8, 2007 10:39 am

I’m proud of her for saying what she said . White people have this
thing of thinking that some celebritys arent black when they reach a
certain status like Diana Ross , Oprah , Janet Jackson and Beyonce
all she’s doing is keeping it real . Who knows what kind of raciest
she has to deal with from day to day. If a white person had made
that statement I’m sure a lawsuit would have surfaced but I feel
like we can say things they cant becaus e of what they have done
    to us .

  42. sugamama on April 19, 2007 4:26 pm

I feel that beyonce was saying how she felt but could have phrased it better and said i make r&b music for r&b fans thats the music i listen to and its were i draw my inspirations from and what has shaped me in my upbringing. I feel that THIS IS WHAT SHE MEANT BUT IT CAME OUT WRONG

  43. sugamama on April 19, 2007 4:34 pm

I feel that beyonce was just saying how she felt but could have phrased it better and said:
i make r&b music for r&b fans thats the music i listen to and its were i draw my inspirations from and what has shaped me in my upbringing.

I feel that this is what she meant and it came out wrong.

If a white artist had said i make white music for white people their would be uproar because 90% of americans are white anyway and it would be a blatant rascist comment however only 10% percent of americans are black or of a ethnic minority, and basically all beyonce was doing is saying that she is catering to that market just as the r&b artists she listened to growing up did.

It was a harmless comment, taken out of context and blown highly out of porportion. Don’t buy her music because of a silly throw away comment. If you like it buy it if you don’t then don’t.

Beyonce is black. And the term Black music is used in the music bussiness. People don’t say a thing when Slim Shady acts black and stuff and says Black music. He calls 50 cent a negro and stuff. Beyonce doesn’t do that. She’s black and gets talked about because she said black music. The second comment is 100% true.

  48. black woman on August 23, 2007 9:57 pm

This isn’t true, Beyonce was misquoted by vanity fair………. Secondly Beyonce sue this publication, but not let truth get in the way of a good story……vanity fair is a very racist publication they alway have to bring race in everything.

  50. precious on October 2, 2007 3:48 pm

well its surprising how RACISTS are so quick in twisting her statement just to make her seem bad. beyonce is simply saying she makes r & b music, and has reached a stage where she can express her true feelings and personal experiences through her music, not caring whether or not people would like her message and style. thats the only message she was trying to portray. and i bet that also means she doesnt care anymore who is interested in buying her music and who isnt, as long as she sings her heart and speaks her mind about what she believes and feels she should expess through her music. i know everyone of her cds sold rily counts to her. but those cds, which should have been bought by these RACISTS who changed their minds about buying them after hearing or reading her comment, they dont deserve to be in their filthy hands. but one thing for sure is that they do dance to her beat wherever they hear it. we just never there to witness that. so B, do your thin’ and remember you are a SURVIVOR. people wil always be there to try to put you down but dont let them succeed. i love you so damn much.
