The Red Carpet Glamour

Who cares who won what, what I’m interested in is who's got five-star style; and who should sack their stylist. Let the debate begin:

Cameron Diaz in sweeping white Valentino dress
Jennifer Lopez wore a Grecian-style, empire line gown. It had a jewelled neckline by her current favorite Hollywood designers, Marchesa and her jewellery label of choice was Lorraine Schwartz.

Rachel Weisz Oscars Red Carpet photos Helen Mirren Oscars Red Carpet photos

Rachel Weisz always looks stunning and this outfit by Vera Wang is one of her best red carpet choices to date. A clutch bag and jewels by Cartier complete the winning look.
Helen Mirren not only took home the award for Best Leading Actress and no doubt will be top of everyone's list for best style too.  She was wearing a Christian Lacroix gown.

Reese Witherspoon Oscars Red Carpet photos Nicole Kidman Oscars Red Carpet photos

Reese chose a midnight blue fish tail gown by Olivier Theyskins for Nina Ricci.
Red was a popular choice this year and Nicole Kidman did it best in a simple hourglass tie neck, halter dress by Balenciaga.

Jodi Foster Oscars Red Carpet photos Cate Blanchett Oscars Red Carpet photos

Jodie Foster looked really different on this year’s Oscar ceremony. She was wearing chiffon gown in stormy blue by Vera Wang. I wonder if Anne Diamond was doing her hear.
Cate chose a one-shouldered dress by Giorgio Armani Prive, along with jewels by Lorraine Schwartz and a Swarovski crystal clutch.

Ann Hathaway Oscars Red Carpet photos Kate Winslet Oscars Red Carpet photos

It was a busy night for atelier Valentino, dressing quite a handful of A-list stars. Have to say Ann Hathaway wasn’t my pick.
Kate Winslet wore a dress by Valentino with jewels by Chopard.

Kirsten Dunst Oscars Red Carpet photos Beyonce Oscars Red Carpet photos

Kirsten Dunst wore a delicate pale blue dress from the Chanel spring couture collection. Like her most recent film 'Marie Antoinette' it was low impact, pretty forgettable and not helped by her ungroomed, limp hair.
Beyoncé shows off her voluptuous body in Armani Prive. She gets top marks for the bang-on trend platform soled shoes but she's often guilty of choosing dresses that are a little too grown up – and this one veers towards frumpy.

Gwynet Paltrow Oscars Red Carpet photos Penelope Cruz Oscars Red Carpet photos

Gwyneth Paltrow chose a beautiful and chic deco style gown in pale rusty chiffon by Zac Posen.
It was a fussy and frilly chiffon organza and tulle gown by Atelier Versace for Penelope Cruz. For a moment a thought she was wearing a blanket.

Jennifer Hudson Oscars Red Carpet photos

Jennifer Hudson wears an Oscar de la Renta gown with a fab silver mini bolero on her shoulders. She's a newcomer on the red carpet and it shows. She almost gets it right with the dress and jacket combo, but with hands in pockets and collars turned up, she's trying to bring some street style attitude to her look – surely not what awards night is all about?

YOU and I seem to be the only ones who thought Penelope’s dress was a fashion DON’T. The top of the dress is gorgeous, but the bottom of the dress looked like it was attacked by a few wild cats.
