SHIA LABEOUF was arrested for drink driving and rushed to hospital for extensive surgery after a horror car crash yesterday morning.

Shia was driving through Hollywood with a female passenger at 3am when he careered into another car and rolled his vehicle onto its roof.

The driver of the car he struck and Shia’s passenger escaped serious injury, but the actor was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for treatment to head, hand and knee wounds.

Shia took a month off from shooting his new movie Transformers 2.

His rep MELISSA KATES said in a statement:

“Attorneys for Mr LaBeouf confirm that an automobile accident involving an additional party occurred early morning in Los Angeles on July 27, 2008.”

“Shia is currently recovering from extensive hand surgery with plans to return to work on the set of Transformers 2 within one month.”

“No further comment will be issued at this time.”

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s SERGEANT S. WOLF added: “It was immediately apparent to officers responding on the scene that LaBeouf was intoxicated and he was subsequently placed under arrest.”

Love might be blind, but even smitten newlywed Mariah Carey can see that her husband Nick Cannon could use a little help getting a job.

“Mariah wants him to at least have the status that DJ AM had when he was dating Nicole Richie,” says a friend of the singer, who spoke to Life & Style magazine.

Cannon, who starred in “Drumline” and more recently “Roll Bounce” with fellow rapper Bow Wow, has been working DJ gigs lately but Carey thinks Cannon is capable of much bigger fame.

“She wants him to start modeling,” says the source. “She wants him to start meeting with well-known designers.”

Cannon is so far ok with Carey’s involvement in his career. “He’s not upset; he thinks it’s a great idea,” the source reports. “He knows Mariah wants him to become more famous.”

Yeah, I’m sure he doesn’t mind, after all the kid deserves his 5 minutes of fame.

On the delivery: “We found a great rhythm. Contractions started kicking in. I sat there with her, right between her legs. We got tribal on it, we danced to it! I was DJ-ing this Brazilian music.”
“I have it all chronicled. Becoming a dad is something I’ve dreamed of doing since I was 10. Becoming a father felt very, very natural. We were jamming! She was sweating. No painkiller, let’s go. She just clicked into that gear that only a woman has at a time like this. We’d been up for 40-something hours, and we went from dead tired to a really steadfast, ‘Let’s handle this… let’s stay in the rhythm. Don’t let the contraction be more than you.’”

“We ended up having an epidural because, on the large contractions, the umbilical cord was being compressed. They went in and tried the vacuum. This is where I learned — and no one tells you this — but having a baby is a bloody, pukey, sweaty, primeval thing! And I mean that as a beautiful thing. It is wild. But the vacuum didn’t work, and the doctor said, ‘C-section.’

On finding out the sex of the little guy: “I said, ‘Come here, little man. I saw the pecker and screamed that we’d been right all along about him being a boy. Then I brought him over to her [Camila].
“It was neat to find out what the sex was because we didn’t have the doctor tell us beforehand.”
On who he looks like: “Everybody thinks he looks like me because of the hair and skin tone.” Camila says. “I think he looks more like Matthew every day.”

And Matthew adds, “I’ve pulled out some baby pictures of myself, and the resemblance is amazing. This kid has a lot to learn from us. I want him to come out being a little wiser, a little cooler and a little happier than we are.”

Sam Lufti is running out of cash hopes to rekindle his friendship with Britney, after her parents took a restraining order out against him following her breakdown earlier this year. A source told In Touch Weekly magazine:

“Sam believes that he and Britney are still friends. If the restraining order is lifted, he’ll be back in her
life for sure. Sam insists it will come out that the restraining order was against the wrong guy. So lifting the order would give him the chance to protect Britney from the vultures out there.”

Sam is due in court the same day Britney’s father’s co-conservator role is set to be reviewed.
