Eighties pop star Boy George arrived back in England today after being charged with possessing cocaine when falsely claiming his home had been burgled.
Police were called to the 44-year-old’s New York apartment in the early hours and allegedly found a small stash of cocaine.
Officers claim a woman in the apartment said there was more cocaine around and they are continuing to investigate.
The former Culture Club star — real name George O’Dowd — was being held in a cell on Friday night.
But he flew back today, looking tired.
NYPD spokesman Detective Kevin Czartoryski said: “He called police to his apartment saying he thought there had been a burglary.
“When officers arrived they found what we believe was cocaine on his computer table.
“He was arrested and has been charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance.”
George, left, became hooked on heroin and cocaine in the 1980s. But just last May he claimed he was clean.
He said: “I don’t feel the need for drugs now.”
